The concept stage is one of my favorites because it gives me a chance to research and pull together elements that reference the source material. I ended up leaning into the adventure and friendship aspect of the story, focusing on the characters facing toward a bright horizon while also reflecting on how they began. The sun also represents the egg that Saphira, the dragon, hatched from when Eragon found her.

Reflection
Fantasy books have always been my favorite to read and. I went through many different fonts trying to determine what matched the feeling of the story the best. With the importance of dragons and ancient magic, I wanted a font that felt fantastical while also feeling archaic.
Project Takeaways—
- Researching the source material is a great way to find important elements to implement into the design.
- There are really good resources online for barcode generation and plenty of mockups to use.
- Typography makes a huge difference in how people judge the genre of a book.
